Dancing the Night Away

Dancing the Night Away

The QSA Club put on a masquerade dance last Saturday evening in Bellingham. It was one of the first dances I’ve been to where almost everyone actually danced, and they danced the whole 4 hours! Some came totally decked out some pretty amazing costumes, some in whatever they were comfortable in. Regardless the attire, their was a very positive energy in the air and everyone had a great time.

My good friends at Whatcom Sound DJ’d the event. They contacted me, said there were probably some good pictures to be had, and they were right. There was already a photographer with a picture booth setup in the corner, so I set out to get some fun shots out on the floor. The dance was in a auditorium with a stage, complete with a gigantic red velvet curtain. The curtain made a great background for my interesting looking subjects. I plucked some people out of the crowd and shot them against the curtain with a ring flash light. The ring flash allowed for some quick and easy shots, no fumbling with light stands or softboxes, just walkup and shoot.

I also took some pictures of people cuttin’ a rug out on the floor.

Thanks to all who let me take your picture! Stay tuned for more from this last weekend. There were also some belly dancers who performed at this dance event, and I’ll be making a separate post them it.
