18 Mar Tacoma Photographers Group
There is a new group for photographers here in Tacoma, simply titled ‘Tacoma Photographers Group.” It is a group created and organized through the website meetup.com (CLICK HERE TO VISIT the group’s page). If you are unfamiliar with meetup, it’s a website dedicated to establishing groups, but not like all of the other websites out there, which focus on online involvement, and as we all know, most of these online interaction websites lead to nothing. Sure, most sites spawn a ton of online activity, but that’s where it tends to stay, and nothing tremendously fruitful ever comes out of it. Meetup was created to do the exact opposite. You join groups (it’s free, by the way) and create meetups to physically participate in. There were a couple groups already established in the area, but I felt that the existing groups were either too restrictive in the disciplines covered, or the location range was too vague. Tacoma is a pretty huge place, and there a plenty of photographers. Yes, there are a lot of different branches of photography you can focus in, but for the most part, a lot of the knowledge base and methods for capturing are pretty darn similar. So, this group is for everyone, and of all skill levels. After all, we all have to edit images, manage a web site, take proper care of our gear, etc. We are meeting this Thursday, March 21st at 7pm here at the Matty Photography studio. Free refreshments and a mini workshop on sensor cleaning. I encourage you all to join and come have some fun with other local photographers. To sum it all up, I’ll just copy and paste the ‘about us’ blurb you see above in the image (it’ll help those search engine results).
The Tacoma Photographers Group was established to provide a resource of networking, learning, and enjoyment for Tacoma area photographers. All skill levels and photo disciplines are welcome to the group. We have big plans for the Tacoma Photographers Group (TPG) – meetups, workshops, shootouts, and much more to help enrich and empower new and seasoned photographers alike. We look forward to the awesome things in-store, and please make suggestions!
